Our Story

Late 1950s - Midland Pneumatic Limited

The business began in the late 1950s as Midland Pneumatic Limited. Its early work focused on manufacturing pneumatic valves and actuators from a factory a few miles from its current Wolverhampton site.

Early 1970s - A New Home in Wolverhampton

Midland moved to Patrick Gregory Road in the early 1970s. The site became the long-term home of its engineering and manufacturing activities and remains the company’s base today.

Late 1970s & 1980s - Moving Into Oil & Gas

Midland began developing 316 stainless steel valves and actuators for the oil and gas market. This marked a move beyond its original brass pneumatic products and into applications with more demanding material, pressure and environmental requirements.

1993 to 2004 - Expanding the Product Portfolio

The company was acquired by Enidine in 1993 and later became part of ITT. Its capabilities continued to grow through the acquisition of Actuator Control Systems in 2002, adding hydraulic valves and actuators, followed by Alcon in 2004, which brought solenoid valve manufacturing into the business.

During this period, Midland also expanded into rail freight, developing pneumatic door systems for wagons carrying coal, biomass, aggregates, sand and minerals.

2014 - Joining Rotork

Rotork acquired the business in 2014, incorporating its pneumatic, hydraulic and solenoid products into its wider flow control portfolio. The Midland, ACS and Alcon names remained recognised by customers, supported by decades of product knowledge and long-standing supply relationships.

2026 - Midland Flow Ltd

In March 2026, the company was acquired by Dacke Industri and began a new chapter as Midland Flow Ltd. Operating once again as a standalone company, Midland Flow now brings its pneumatic, hydraulic, solenoid and rail capabilities together under one business, backed by more than 60 years of engineering knowledge.
