Bespoke Engineering

Products Designed Around Your Application

Not every application can be solved with a standard catalogue product.

Whether you need a modified valve, alternative connections, different operating characteristics, a manifold assembly or a complete control system, Midland Flow develops bespoke engineering solutions around your specific requirements.

Our engineers work closely with you to develop practical engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions for your application.

Many bespoke designs become repeat production items, allowing the same product to be manufactured and supplied whenever it’s needed.

What We Can Develop

Our bespoke engineering capabilities range from simple product modifications through to complete assemblies built around your application.

Modified Valves

Existing solenoid, directional, flow and pressure control products adapted to suit your operating conditions, connections or performance requirements.

Manifold Assemblies

Integrated manifold assemblies that combine multiple valves and control functions into a compact, application-specific solution.

Pressure & Flow Control Solutions

Custom pressure regulators, filter regulators, flow control assemblies and related products designed around your specification.

Rail Door Systems

Pneumatic rail door systems and control assemblies developed for new-build projects, upgrades and specialist rail applications.

Complete Control Systems

Bespoke pneumatic and hydraulic control systems engineered, manufactured and tested to meet your exact application requirements.

Why Choose Our Bespoke Engineering Services

How It Works

Step 1 – Discuss Your Requirements

Tell us about your application, operating conditions and technical requirements. Our team will review your requirements and determine whether a standard product, product modification or bespoke design is the most suitable solution.

Step 2 – Develop the Solution

Our engineers develop a solution based on your specification. This may involve adapting an existing product or designing a new valve, manifold assembly or control system. Where required, drawings can be provided during the quotation stage for review.

Step 3 – Design Review

Once you’ve reviewed the proposed design and any supporting drawings, we’ll finalise the specification ready for manufacture. After approval and receipt of your order, the project moves into production.

Step 4 – Manufacture

Your product is manufactured at our Wolverhampton facility before being inspected and prepared for delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you modify an existing Midland Flow product?

Yes.

Many bespoke engineering projects begin with one of our existing products, allowing connections, operating characteristics, mounting arrangements or other features to be adapted to suit your application.

What information do you need to quote an engineered solution?

The more information you can provide, the better. Drawings, sketches, operating conditions, media, pressure requirements or details of the existing installation all help our engineers recommend the most suitable solution.

Can you work from my drawings or specifications?

Yes.

We regularly develop products from customer drawings, technical specifications and project requirements.

Our engineers can also suggest design improvements where appropriate.

Can you design a complete assembly instead of a single component?

Yes.

Alongside modified products, we develop complete manifold assemblies and pneumatic or hydraulic control systems designed around your application.

Can you develop a bespoke solution for hazardous or demanding environments?

Yes.

We regularly develop bespoke products for demanding applications across industries including rail, oil & gas, chemical processing and other specialist sectors.

Our engineers will recommend the most suitable design and materials for your operating conditions.

Once developed, can the same product be manufactured again?

Yes.

Many engineered-to-order products become repeat production items.

Once the design has been approved, we can manufacture additional units whenever they’re required.

Can you replace or improve an existing product from another manufacturer?

Yes.

If you’re looking to replace an obsolete product or improve an existing design, our engineers can assess your application and develop a suitable alternative where possible.

Can you support projects from prototype through to production?

Yes.

Whether you need a one-off prototype, a small production batch or an ongoing supply arrangement, we can support your project throughout its lifecycle.
